Country Parkway - Elementary School Air Conditioning Project

Dear Elementary Families,

Over the summer, the District is continuing work related to the Elementary School Air Conditioning Project. Similar to last year, the buildings will be closed to students, families, and staff over the break so the project can continue to progress.

While the main office will remain open, beginning Friday, June 26^th, the school building will be closed and inaccessible to students and families.  Please make sure your child has all their personal belongings—including items in the lost and found—as they will not be able to retrieve them once the building closes for the summer and the items will be donated.

Our elementary playgrounds and sports courts will remain open and available to families this summer. We ask all visitors who use our facilities to adhere to our guidelines, which include providing proper supervision and using the spaces for their intended purposes. If your children use the facilities, they should always be accompanied by an adult while on school property. Please also remember that our facilities close at dusk, and no one should be on the grounds after dark for safety purposes.  If community organizations, athletic clubs, or outside groups wish to formally utilize the facilities or school buildings for organized practices, games, or events, they must complete the appropriate facilities/building use paperwork with the school in advance.

We are incredibly proud to share these spaces with our community, and we count on your cooperation to help maintain them by disposing of trash properly and respecting the areas and equipment.

Dear Williamsville Families and Staff,

As you know, the District is currently engaged in the Elementary School Air Conditioning Project.   We are writing to inform you of upcoming construction activity at Country Parkway Elementary School that is scheduled for Sunday, May 3rd.

As part of the scheduled work associated with this capital improvement project, a helicopter will be used to lift and place equipment onto the rooftop. This has been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and allows the work to be completed more efficiently than traditional crane methods.

The activity is expected to occur during daytime hours. We are unable to provide specific start and end times, as the schedule may be adjusted based on operational or safety considerations.

Please be aware that there may be temporary noise and increased activity in the surrounding area. The construction team is coordinating closely with local authorities to ensure all necessary safety measures are in place, including securing the work zone and managing access as needed.

Dear Country Parkway Families,

As we prepare for the Spring Recess, I wanted to provide an update regarding the Elementary School Air Conditioning Project.

During the break (April 14-21), abatement work will once again be occurring and conclude before the end of the break.  Crews will also be working in classrooms and beginning to install vents and associated infrastructure to support the AC project.  Installation will continue when classes resume on April 22^nd through the end of the school year (June 30^th). 

This means that following the Spring Recess, faculty and staff will be using the temporary classroom space for 3-5 instructional days before rotating back to their original classrooms. This process is anticipated to be complete by the end of May.  While utilizing temporary classroom spaces, the goal remains the same: to maintain continuity of instruction.  Any questions regarding the temporary classroom spaces should be directed to your building administrators.

Over the summer, there will not be any access allowed to the building as crews continue their work.  As a reminder, updated information regarding the Elementary School Air Conditioning Project is available on the Country Parkway Elementary school webpage.

Dear Country Parkway Families and Staff,

As work continues on the Elementary School Air Conditioning Project, the District wanted to provide an update on the next steps ahead of the Mid-Winter Recess (February 17^th-21^st).

Over the break, abatement will occur in Phase 1 School.  The District's contractor will follow all New York State abatement requirements, which includes air monitoring.  In accordance with State law, notices to the public will be on the building 10-days prior to this work beginning.  Heading into the spring and summer, crews will begin to update the infrastructure in our buildings to support the AC project. 

Following the Spring Recess in April, teachers will be utilizing temporary classroom spaces as installation begins.

Dear Country Parkway Families and Staff,

As we previously shared, we are preparing to begin using a temporary space inside the school as part of the Elementary School Air Conditioning Project.  This capital project will provide relief to our students, faculty, and staff during the warmer months of the school year.  While this is a multi-year endeavor and teachers will be utilizing temporary classroom spaces during construction, our goal remains the same: to maintain continuity of instruction. The current construction plan will impact two teachers per week as they utilize the temporary classroom space inside the school.

Here is a reminder of the key items the project will entail as we head toward the Winter Recess and New Year:

• Ceilings will be removed
• Temporary lighting will be in place in some locations in the building
• Abatement will occur (will be posted 10-days prior at the building)

We will continue to keep you updated as the project moves along.  We have established an Elementary School Air Conditioning Project landing page on the District website, as well as the Country Parkway website, which includes the project timeline and communication.

Dear Families and Staff,

We wanted to provide you with an update as we begin the Elementary School Air Conditioning Project.  As you are aware, the community approved additional funding during the May 2024 budget vote, allowing for the project to move forward.

This capital project is being done in two (2) phases. Phase 1 begins this year and involves Country Parkway, Heim Elementary, and Maple West.  Phase 1 is anticipated to be completed in 2027.  Phase 2 begins in 2026 and involves Dodge, Forest, and Maple East.  Phase 2 is anticipated to be completed in 2028.

After a successful bid process, Phase 1 work will begin over the Winter Recess.  Below is an overview of the process and project through the end of the school year.  Please note that additional District/building communication will follow as we keep you updated during this capital initiative.

Phase 1 - Anticipated Project Timeline for Remainder of the 2024-2025 School Year

• October 2024 – Bids formally opened
• November 2024 – Accept Bids, receive New York State Education Department approval for construction to begin
• December 2024 – Work begins over the Winter Recess (December 23-January 3) with the removal of ceiling tiles in the impacted schools
• January 2025 – Buildings will begin utilizing temporary classroom spaces
• February 2025 – Abatement work occurs during the Mid-Winter Recess (February 17-21)
• April 2025 – Abatement work occurs during the Spring Recess (April 14-21)
•  May – July 2025 – AC project work continues
• August 2025 – Updates provided prior to the 2025-2026 school year

Throughout the school year, our facilities crews and contractors have been working on the Elementary School Air Conditioning Project.  I want to thank students and staff for their patience and understanding throughout this process.

As we prepare for summer, while the main office will remain open, the school will be closed beginning Friday, June 27^th, and inaccessible as construction and air conditioning installation continues.  Please make sure your child has all their personal belongings – including in the lost and found – as they will not be able to retrieve them once the building closes for the summer.
